Teriyaki Chicken Bowl features tender chicken glazed in a sweet-savory teriyaki sauce served over steamed rice with fresh garnishes. The quick marinade and fast cook time make it an ideal weeknight meal. Bright green onions and sesame seeds add texture and a pop of color to each bowl.

Ingredients

  • 0.50 cup soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup mirin
  • 0.25 cup sake
  • 2 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 pound bite-size pieces
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 cup cooked rice
  • 0.50 cup green onion, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Steps

  1. Whisk together teriyaki marinade ingredients until sugar dissolves.
  2. Add chicken to the marinade, toss to coat, and let sit 15 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat; cook chicken until no longer pink, about 5 minutes.
  4. Pour in reserved marinade, bring to a simmer, and cook until sauce thickens and coats the chicken, about 5 minutes.
  5. Divide cooked rice among bowls, top with teriyaki chicken and sauce, then garnish before serving.
